Michael loved to touch people and challenge their boundaries, including famously, Bill Gates. I had my own experience with Michael's kinesthetic playfulness. I organized a series of annual student workshops so that students in LCS could share their research with each other and get practice giving talks in a "safer" environment than at an academic conference. In 1993 the workshop was held at Plimouth Plantation. Since many of the graduate students had never had contact with Michael and didn't know who our Lab Director was, I invited Michael to be the keynote speaker. When it came time for him to speak, I introduced him with a litany of his distinguished accomplishments. Michael interrupted me, saying, "Enough, enough!" As I persisted with my introduction Michael approached me, and before I knew it, he had me in his famous "fireman's carry" and was parading me around on his back in front of all the grad students. Needless to say, the students found it a memorable occasion!
